Wednesdays with Charlie – April 11, 2007

Greetings,

I hope all of you had a great Easter weekend — I know Sharon and I enjoyed taking a break for a couple of days. Easter is always a great time of the year, with the trees coming back to life and that last cold snap of the season, as we had over the weekend. But on the personal side, it is also a great time to reflect on our faith and be grateful for the blessings we have received. Sharon and I have been blessed with a wonderful family and great friends throughout Mississippi.

Our kick-off tour around the state is going very well. Yesterday, I visited Desoto County while meeting with people in Olive Branch, Southaven, and Hernando. Today, I spoke at the Rotary Club meeting in Charleston and finished up the afternoon in Greenwood. Just as with the rest of the state, I always enjoy visiting with the people of Northwest Mississippi.

I am looking forward to traveling up to Starkville on Friday to participate in an event at Mississippi State. It will be good to meet and speak with students up there to get them involved in the political process. Our young people are Mississippi’s greatest resource and we should be proud of the job that our public universities do in developing the leaders of tomorrow. One of the things that I am most proud of during my service in the Senate is my commitment to education. We must continue to stress the importance of measuring the success of our education system by the output of our schools, not only by the resources we put in.

With the campaign in full swing, it is more important than ever that you get involved. This is an important election for the future of Mississippi. Our state is at a crossroads, and it is crucial that we have strong conservative leadership to ensure Mississippi’s great future. Whether you donate or volunteer, your help is greatly appreciated. You may do either by visiting our website or calling our campaign headquarters at (601) 362-ROSS (7677).

Best regards,

Charlie
