Mike Lott – Secretary of State Campaign Announcement – Tupelo
Republican State Representative Mike Lott has chosen Tupelo as one of his stops on his ?Protect the Vote? Campaign Tour. Lott will open his Northeast Mississippi campaign for Secretary of State in Lee County on Friday, April 13, at 10:00 a.m. at the Tupelo City Hall. Mayor Ed Neelly will introduce the two-term lawmaker from Petal.
The integrity of the election process is an issue with the veteran State Legislator who has consistently introduced legislation to address voter identification at the polls. Lott points out, ?Voting is one of our most precious rights as Americans, and when we go to the polls, regardless of our party affiliation or race, we should be guaranteed that no one has voted in our place. One man, one vote should mean just that.”
Lott said he chose Tupelo because the people and leaders of the area have a tremendous ?can do? attitude and because of the emphasis on education and economic development. ?As a certified school administrator and a state lawmaker, I know that economic development and an educated workforce are inseparable, and this understanding will assist me in carrying out my role as Secretary of State to foster economic growth. My solid pro-business and pro-education voting records are proof of my commitment to making this happen.?
Current Secretary of State Eric Clark announced in early February that he will not seek re-election. Primary elections will be held throughout the state on August 7 for all statewide, legislative, and county offices.
