Jackson Mayor Frank Melton and Hinds County District Attorney Faye Peterson will appear in court Friday to argue whether Peterson violated state law in a telephone conversation with one of Melton’s bodyguards last fall.
In a deposition, Wright alleges Peterson attempted to influence him to testify against the mayor in exchange for more lenient treatment. After his indictment, Wright asked Moore, Melton’s personal assistant, whether Stringer might be able to help with his defense. Wright said Moore, who is a personal friend of Stringer, called the attorney on his behalf and that Stringer allegedly set up a conversation with Peterson.
