Appeal halts Jackson land grab
The Clarion-Ledger, 6/1/7 Eleventh-hour appeals of Byram’s court-approved incorporation have blocked it from becoming Mississippi’s newest municipality and stalled Jackson’s expansion plan. As a result of three appeals on Thursday, the battle for Byram’s incorporation and Jackson’s annexation of a sliver of land south of the city is moving to the state Supreme Court.

State high court denies request for no hearing on sanctions
The Clarion-Ledger, 5/31/7 The Mississippi Supreme Court has denied Hinds County Circuit Judge Tomie Green?s request to rule on sanctions against Jackson Mayor Frank Melton?s personal defense attorney without a hearing in a lower court. Green had filed for sanctions against Dale Danks Jr., who is also a former Jackson mayor, in March.
