In Friday’s press conference Governor Tate Reeves added Wayne County to the list of those with tighter restrictions.
“We are adding Wayne County to the list of those with greater restrictions. It is among the most dangerous places in the state for spread of COVID-19 today. We are also sharing more information on Back to Business grants for small businesses, and answering questions in today’s daily briefing,” said Reeves.
The Governor also said that the launch of the Backtobusinessms.org website. This site will assist small businesses with less than 50 employees who need financial assistance in this time.
MDA will be responsible for reviewing bids and then putting out applications for businesses to apply. These grants come from the $1.25 billion given to the state from the federal government. The Legislature appropriated $300 million for small businesses who are in need. An immediate $60 million will be distributed in $2,000 checks, the remainder can be applied for up to $25,000 per business.
“This deadly disease is real, it is contagious and it is in every community in our state,” said Reeves. “We are trusting you, the people of Mississippi to to what is right…but I’m asking you as a fellow Mississippian to be wise.”
