The View from L.A.: Huskies’ coaching neophyte arrives with question marks

Editor’s note: Long Beach Press-Telegram columnist Bob Keisser has covered Los Angeles-area sports for three decades. In this special to the Seattle P-I, he writes about new Huskies football coach Steve Sarkisian.
THERE WAS A time when Seattle had a massive distrust of anyone who came to town with Los Angeles on their résumé. Weren’t you guys once going to build border checks in Tacoma to keep Californians out of town?
I recall this view held even before the Huskies hired the likes of former Trojan Barbara Hedges as athletic director and former Bruin Rick Neuheisel as football coach. How’d that work out for you?

So there’s some bemusement in watching Washington’s hiring of USC offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian as the new head coach. It’s like that saying about insanity — doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
