Saints’ reluctance with Deuce mystifying

The New Orleans Saints have a huge problem. They can’t make a single yard when they need one. This has cost them now in two straight defeats at Washington and Denver.
The Saints would have another huge problem – perhaps an even bigger one – if the leading ground gainer in club history, Deuce McAllister, wasn’t such a class act. He has refused to criticize any decision or anyone.
McAllister, coming off major knee surgery, has said he’s fit and ready to go. Indeed, he has gained 10 yards on his only two carries of the season. But Saints coach Sean Payton has kept McAllister on the sidelines in those critical short-yardage situations and the Saints have failed nearly every time.
