Arkansas has hope down the line

LITTLE ROCK — The biggest positives for this Arkansas football team are the negatives in Oxford, Miss., Columbia, S.C., and Starkville, Miss.

Good or bad, one game does not make a season, but as inept as the Razorbacks looked against Alabama, they will have a legitimate opportunity to win some games from mid-October on. The trick is to compete, survive, and improve, particularly on defense. The most troubling circumstance of the Alabama game was that vanilla stuff with the tailback produced touchdown runs of 87, 31, and 62 yards. Generally, Glen Coffee and Roy Upchurch were home free five yards past the line of scrimmage.

The return of linebacker Freddy Burton from a two-game suspension was about the only bright spot on defense.
