Herbstreit: Florida game proves UM can win ACC
CORAL GABLES – After watching Miami play well in Saturday’s 26-3 loss to No. 5 Florida, ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit thinks the Hurricanes “have a legitimate shot to win the ACC this year.”
Miami is still looking for its first ACC championship, but Herbstreit he saw enough against the Gators to believe it can be done this season. The Hurricanes were picked to finish third in the ACC’s Coastal Division.
”My personal feeling about the game was more about looking at Miami as a serious contender this year in the ACC,” said Herbstreit during an ESPN conference call on Tuesday afternoon. “Not [in] the future with those freshmen – I’m talking about right now. I think they can become a team to look out for if they can bottle that energy they played with in The Swamp. I think Miami can be a serious player this year and get into the BCS.”
