First charter serving early elementary grades set to open in Jackson
Nashville-based charter operator is on track to open Mississippi’s fifth charter school and Jackson’s fourth.
Erika Berry, director of external affairs for RePublic Schools, said the group expects to hold a lottery for Joel E. Smilow Collegiate in February.
The school plans to start with kindergarten and first grade with a projected enrollment of 180-216 students and grow to grades K-4 by its fourth year with a maximum enrollment of 528 students, according to its application.
