Medicaid review defends managed care contracts
JACKSON – The Mississippi Division of Medicaid claims that an internal review of its awarding of three contracts to managed care companies, totaling about $2 billion per year, was done properly.
Two companies that did not receive the contracts earlier this summer, Mississippi True, formed by a coalition of Mississippi hospitals, including North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, and Americagroup Mississippi, filed an appeal, challenging the process in which the contracts were awarded.
As a result of that appeal, as mandated by the Division of Medicaid’s administrative procedures, the bid process was reviewed by the Division of Medicaid’s Office of Procurement.
