State Rep. Holland’s colleagues express sympathies in wake of dementia diagnosis

Rep. Holland vows to soldier on after dementia diagnosis

“It caught me off guard,” said Rep. Jody Steverson, R-Ripley. “In the coming days, he will be in my family’s prayers.”

Rep. Jerry Turner, R-Baldwyn, said, “He has served diligently and passionately and is a good friend. He has brought a wealth of knowledge to public health.”

“He has been a good friend to me,” said Rep. Shane Aguirre, R-Tupelo. “He has served his constituents well.”

Rep. Preston Sullivan D-Okolona, described Holland as “unselfish.”

“Any time he told you something, you could count on it,” Sullivan said

Holland said he was told he could live a normal life for multiple years or deteriorate rapidly. He said it is not predictable.
