Sid Salter: Nissan march just a grab for UAW relevance
STARKVILLE – On Saturday, the United Auto Workers, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, actor Danny Glover, the NAACP, and fellow political travelers brought the “March on Mississippi” to Canton to continue to peddle the narrative that “workers’ rights equals civil rights.”
Sanders, the Vermont independent who caucuses with Democrats in Congress, has identified in the past as a Democratic socialist. He has been a pro-union voice throughout his political career….
…This is a business fight over unionizing an automobile manufacturing plant, nothing more and nothing less. The union hopes that global companies like Nissan will simply buckle under weight of false claims of civil rights violations and capitulate — creating higher membership numbers and bolstering the revenue stream of the UAW.
