Bill proposes no consolidation for school districts in state control
JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) — A Hazlehurst lawmaker wants to stop the consolidation of school districts under state conservatorship.
Democratic Representative Gregory Holloway has written a bill to prevent the action if a school district is showing progress to come out of state control.
State law allows the Mississippi Department of Education to set benchmarks and grade school districts on performance and operations.
