Connie Cochran’s era could end on Election Commission

Longtime Hinds County Election Commissioner Connie Cochran has helped run elections for 24 years in the county.

Now, her future on the the five-member Election Commission is uncertain after last week’s general election. With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Cochran trails Democratic challenger Yvonne Robinson Horton of Bolton by 78 votes….

…The reason it could go either way is 5,000 affidavit ballots were filed countywide in the general election, with 800 plus that could impact the District 4 Election Commission race. The Election Commission is in the process of pouring over the affidavit ballots to see which ones will be added to totals in the race.
