RELEASE:

Former MSU Employee Arrested for Embezzlement

JACKSON, MS – State Auditor Stacey Pickering announced today that former Mississippi State University (MSU) employee, Susan Holder, 63, surrendered herself to the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, September 2.
Holder was indicted for embezzlement.
During the course of the investigation, special agents with the Office of the State Auditor determined that Holder received excessive reimbursement for travel. Evidence shows that Holder charged travel expenses on her personal credit card, which was paid by a private Foundation, and then submitted reimbursement to MSU for the same expenses.
Available records indicate Holder submitted duplicate travel expenses in the amount of $35,496.98. These travel expenses were incurred from September 2007 through October 2011.
“The misuse of public and private funds will not be tolerated, said Auditor Pickering. “Employees like Ms. Holder, who violate the public trust, will be held accountable for their actions.”
Holder was employed by MSU from 1991 until she was terminated on November 30, 2011.
