City Council sets Tupelo tax levy
The Tupelo City Council approved on Tuesday night a property tax rate that remains unchanged over current rates.
For the 2016-17 fiscal year, the city will levy a property tax rate of 32.47 mills.
The Tupelo Public School District’s tax levy of 64.10 mills was also formally approved Tuesday, though the City Council has no authority to set or alter the school district’s levy rate.
An increase in Lee County’s property values as appraised by Lee County tax officials will drive a corresponding increase in property tax revenues to both Tupelo and Lee County, even with flat tax rates.
