Charter schools seek to join legal fight over funding in Mississippi

One of the charter schools in Jackson and the state charter organization are asking a Hinds County judge if they can enter a legal fight over charter funding in Mississippi.

Midtown Public Charter School and the Mississippi Charter Schools Association want to join the defendants in a lawsuit filed in Hinds County Chancery Court by the Southern Poverty Law Center and some parents of Jackson Public School District students.

The two parties filed letters Monday (here and here) with Hinds County Judge Dewayne Thomas asking to join the suit, which also includes Gov. Phil Bryant and Jackson Public Schools.
