SALES TAX HOLIDAY FOR CLOTHING, SHOES STARTS FRIDAY
Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves reminds Mississippians that Friday marks the start of the sales tax weekend on clothing and shoes.
All day Friday and Saturday, consumers can take advantage of a tax break on shirts, pants, dresses and any other item of clothing in time for back-to-school shopping. Items that cost less than $100 individually will not be subject to sales tax.
“This weekend is a chance for parents and grandparents to get a break for their wallet while getting children ready for a new school year,” Lt. Gov. Reeves said. “While I support this sales tax holiday which provides relief to Mississippi pocketbooks, I also believe we ought to continue finding ways to provide permanent savings to our citizens.”
