Transportation committees will begin considering MEC infrastructure plan
On Wednesday, the House and Senate Transportation committees will meet jointly to hear from the Mississippi Department of Transportation on the needs in the state. Elected transportation commissioners have long argued that the Department of Transportation’s current revenue stream is not sufficient to meet all of the state’s highway and bridge needs.
Then, probably the following week, the two Transportation committees again will meet jointly to hear from the Mississippi Economic Council on their ExcelerateMississippi plan to commit an additional $375 million annually for road and bridge needs.
