HARRISON: Power to appoint committees weighs on Gunn, Reeves

By: Magnolia Tribune - January 15, 2016

The two presiding officers must make committee assignments – naming chairs, vice chairs and members of the more than 30 committees that are in place in each chamber.

The two presiding officers, through the rules passed by the members, have immense power. No power, though, might be more important than the power to make committee assignments.
