Attaboys and Oh Boys for Nov. 25
Oh Boy!
To challenges of election results after November balloting. Rep. Bo Eaton won a game of chance — drawing straws, in this case — to settle a tie vote between him and Republican challenger Mark Tullos. State law allows the other party to appeal. That appeal, however, goes to the state Legislature, a body keenly interested in strengthening its GOP dominance. That’s existing state law, so any issues are with the law itself. But after questions about whether Tullos’ brother voted in Smith County, though he’s allegedly a Rankin County resident, it’s time to look at the “game of chance” as a potentially stacked deck.
