Palazzo-vs.-Taylor highlights 4th District race
With the national spotlight in Mississippi focused on the political donnybrook between Cochran and McDaniel, the District 4 race, by comparison, has been contested much more quietly.
Rozman said the low-key nature of the race is not an asset for Taylor.
“The fact that there’s no excitement doesn’t bode well for him,” he said.
Palazzo beat Taylor by about 10,000 votes out of the roughly 200,000 cast in the 2010 general election. Mississippi primary electorates are traditionally much smaller.
Palazzo has outraised his challenger $678,000 to $251,000.
“People aren’t being fooled,” Palazzo told the Associated Press. “You can’t be a lifelong Democrat and wake up the day of the qualifying deadline and say, ‘I’m a Republican.'”
Taylor, though, says people thank him for running.
“I think people have realized they want a congressman that’s accessible to them, that they can talk to face-to-face,” Taylor told the AP.
