MMA ENDORSES JOSIAH COLEMAN FOR MISSISSIPPI SUPREME COURT
The Mississippi Manufacturers Association (MMA) Monday announced its endorsement of Josiah Coleman for the Mississippi Supreme Court, Northern District. The MMA Board of Directors voted unanimously to support Coleman based on his strong record of service.
MMA, Mississippi’s leading business organization, is dependent upon an unbiased judiciary as it represents the interests of Mississippi’s manufacturers and 2,200 member companies.
“Manufacturing is the foundation of our economy, and the MMA board believes Mr. Coleman would serve as a fair and impartial justice when deciding matters that affect Mississippi’s manufacturers,” said MMA President and CEO Jay Moon, CEcD, FM. “The MMA believes a strong and fair judicial system enables manufacturers and business in general to continue to compete in the global marketplace.”
“I am honored by the Mississippi Manufacturers Association’s endorsement and the confidence its directors have placed in me to be a qualified, fair and impartial Supreme Court Justice,” said Coleman. “I have seen first-hand during more than a decade of appellate and trial-level work on behalf of Mississippi’s businesses the adverse effects a biased Court can have on our state’s businesses and its employees. As always, I want to invite all Mississippians who believe in the importance of a fair judicial system to support my candidacy.”
An active Mississippi defense and appellate attorney, Coleman is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association, the Defense Research Institute, American Inns of Court and the Lafayette County Bar Association. He has been admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, all United States District Courts in the state and all State Courts in Mississippi.
Coleman resides in Toccopola in Pontotoc County, where he is an active volunteer firefighter and secretary of the Board of Deacons at College Hill Presbyterian Church in Oxford. He is married to the former Ashleigh Allison Burke, and they have one daughter, Merrimac.
