Incumbent congressional candidate Alan Nunnelee outraised and outspent his closest primary opponent by hundreds of thousands of dollars during the first months of 2012.
Nunnelee, a freshman U.S. representative, earned $180,540 in political contributions since the beginning of the year, according to his campaign finance report filed Thursday. He already had $433,634.91 cash on hand when the reporting period began.
Two-time challenger Henry Ross raised $29,129.58 from donors during the same time. That came on top of the $51,426.82 that Ross brought into the new year.
