Barbour left a positive mark on Mississippi

When Mississippi Gov.-elect Phil Bryant is sworn in as governor Tuesday, the term of Gov. Haley Barbour will officially end.

In recent weeks, Barbour, a Republican elected in 2003, has been saying his good-byes.

He also has said that he does not intend to seek public office again.

Barbour, 64, a Yazoo City native, who rose to the heights of power in the White House as Ronald Reagan’s political adviser, and as head of the Republican National Committee to hobnob with some of the most powerful people on the planet, will leave a lasting mark on Mississippi.
