Flowood liquor vote set for June 2
50% plus 1 needed for approval
Flowood voters will decide on June 2 whether liquor and wine may be sold by the glass at restaurants.
More than 880 Flowood voters signed a petition to have the liquor referendum placed on the ballot. Twenty percent – or 611 – of voters’ signatures were required to get the issue on the ballot.
After receiving the petition and verifying the signatures, the Board of Alderman last week voted to move the referendum to the general election instead of having a separate special election.
Doing that rather than holding a separate election will save the city as much as $35,000, Mayor Gary Rhoads said.
