Melton courting his demise before us

Federal prosecutors are working to put the finishing touches on their case against Jackson Mayor Frank Melton. They continue to get help from a most unlikely source: Melton himself.

Before a judge issued a gag order Thursday, Melton’s inability to keep his mouth shut served to strengthen the government’s case against him and put his defense attorneys in an almost indefensible position.

What on earth is wrong with the man? If the government’s case centers on whether the mayor authorized a bunch of young men to help him unlawfully destroy a personal residence, they don’t have to go too far for witnesses.
