Miss. court candidates discuss finances

By: Magnolia Tribune - September 24, 2008

The Daily Mississippian, 9/24/8

Four candidates running against each other for Mississippi Supreme Court justice put their attacks on hold long enough Tuesday to eat lunch and answer questions from the Lafayette County Bar Association.

Judge David Chandler is running against Charles Easley for a spot on the highest court in Mississippi. Gene Barton is running against Anne Lamar, who Gov. Haley Barbour appointed to the Mississippi Supreme Court last year after Kay Cobb stepped down from her position.

The Downtown Grill held the hour-and-a-half luncheon.

Some of the questions dealt with whether the Constitution is a living document, if a judge should incorporate religious beliefs when making decisions and campaign finance reform.
