Wow! Just, wow!
Governor Sarah Palin took the stage in St. Paul Wednesday evening for the most important event so far of her political life, and undoubtedly one of the most significant moments in the 2008 Presidential campaign. How did she do?
People can and do split hairs, particularly when one’s own political perspective is in play, so there naturally will be some disagreement about how effective Palin’s speech was, and how much difference it will make over the long haul. As for me, well, you see the “wow!” above, don’t you?
Republicans here in St. Paul genuinely believe Sarah knocked it clear out of the park. Judging from the morning-after media commentary, some Democrats evidently prefer to think Palin hit a long fly ball out to the warning track. But no serious person — not even the most partisan Dem — denies today that Sarah got good wood on the ball. Leftist pols and pundits praying for Palin to strike out have been sorely disappointed.
