Judge won’t budge on lawyer’s $4.25M levy

A federal judge gave Gulf Coast lawyer Paul Minor no reprieve Wednesday from immediately paying $4.25 million in fines and restitution stemming from his conviction on bribery-related charges earlier this year.

Minor’s attorneys told U.S. District Judge Henry Wingate that Minor has liquidated assets and has the $4.25 million.

But Julie Epps, one of Minor’s attorneys, asked that Minor be allowed to post the money in an interest-bearing court account instead of actually paying the fine and restitution until his appeal before the Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals is decided.
