The FBI for the second time in recent weeks has received subpoenaed documents from the city of Jackson for an investigation that may be related to demolition projects and a lawn-care service Mayor Frank Melton helped establish.
Pieter Teeuwissen, special assistant to City Attorney Sarah O’Reilly-Evans, verified more information has been turned over to the FBI. He would not discuss specifics or say exactly when the documents were turned over.
In mid-June, FBI officials received the first batch of documents they requested. Around the same time, state Auditor Phil Bryant began a review of certain city documents, stopping short of calling it an investigation.
