The U.S. House passed legislation Wednesday that will enable the Justice Department to pursue unpunished killings from the civil rights era.
Now it’s up to the Senate, which is expected to pass the bill that would give the department additional resources for the effort.
Second District Rep. Bennie Thompson, 3rd District Rep. Chip Pickering and 4th District Rep. Gene Taylor voted for the bill.
