Governor Tate Reeves said Tuesday that the approximate $10 billion economic development project is for a hyperscale data center.
On Tuesday, Governor Tate Reeves announced he plans to call a second special session in just two weeks, this time to finalize an economic development project in Madison County.
The project, which is for a “hyperscale data center,” will come to an approximate $10 billion capital investment.
The development located in Canton will also create 1,000 jobs.
Governor Reeves said Tuesday that the project will be the single largest capital investment in state history, and four times the size of the most recent economic development project announced for Marshall County last week.
More details are expected to be announced during Wednesday’s press conference with the Governor and other elected officials.

Just last week, lawmakers entered into a special session to finalize the details of a project in Marshall County that will produce and transport electric batteries intended to power commercial vehicles. The $2 billion capital investment is expected to create 2,000 jobs with an average salary of $66,000. The development stands as the largest annual payroll commitment of any major project in Mississippi history.
