YP – Reeves discusses ways to raise worker wages as economy reopens
Governor Reeves discussed ways to raise wages for workers as the economy reopens. He said one of the best ways to do that is through workforce development. He hopes to help get more Mississippians qualified for higher paying skilled jobs.
He also announced Patrick Sullivan as his appointment for Chairman of the State Workforce Investment Board (SWIB) to ensure Mississippi’s continued workforce development.

MAGNOLIA STATE LIVE – Mississippi mayor says not wearing mask shows ‘you don’t give a damn about others’
While the number of positive cases continues to dwindle in her city Oxford Mayor Robyn Tannehill said that, by continuing to wear a face mask, practicing social distancing and personal hygiene, the number of cases should continue to decrease until a vaccine is developed.
“Wearing a mask is not too much to ask of it means our community can start operating in a semi-normal fashion,” Tannehill said. “I’m showing respect and love for my neighbor when they can see that I’m not putting them in danger by not wearing a mask. By not wearing a mask, you’re basically saying that you don’t give a damn about others.”
WLOX – Miss. Board of Trustees plan to reopen campuses for fall 2020
The Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning passed a resolution to reopen the campuses of all eight public universities in the Fall of 2020.
“Providing a safe environment for all students and employees is paramount,” said Dr. Ford Dye, President of the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning. “We urge the universities to take prudent precautions in planning for resuming traditional operations and make adjustments as needed, based on recommendations from health experts.”

WLOX – Coast casinos celebrate successful reopening after being closed over two months
Thursday was a day that’s been two months in the making. With dozens of new safety protocols in place, cash is once again flowing through casinos in South Mississippi.
Whether they were in Biloxi, Waveland, Gulfport, or D’Iberville, thousands flocked to Coast casinos to celebrate their re-opening Thursday.
“It’s been a great day,” said Ben Koff, Vice President of Marketing at the Scarlet Pearl. “The start that we have had between the casino floor, our outlets and our hotel keep up. I think it’s very good to say that the Gulf Coast is back in action.”
