Y’all Politics sought comment from Mississippi Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith’s office on where the U.S. Senator stands as it relates to the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.
Her office responded saying, “Senator Hyde-Smith voted for the first coronavirus package, and will carefully review the pending plan worked out by House leaders and the Treasury Secretary. She will do the same with an expected third aid bill that is expected to come before the Senate in the future.”
The U.S. House passed the Act late last week, sending it over to the U.S. Senate for consideration.
In what is expected to be a formality, the House will likely be forced to vote again on the measure as it is in need of “technical changes” that did not make it into the initial version before passing in a 363-40 bipartisan vote.
While there has been no word as to what those changes may be just yet, small business owners continue to maintain their dislike of being forced to offer up to 3 months of paid leave, something Congressional Republicans are also concerned about as it relates to the Act.
The Senate has yet to receive the bill from the House and no Senate votes have been scheduled on the House-passed measure.
