Bill of the Day: No more small print on contracts

By: Sarah Ulmer - January 29, 2020

Tired of squinting or grabbing a magnifying glass every time you want to read an important document? Well, HB 214 authored by Rep. Banks would do away with the small print and make sure it becomes large enough to read.

The bill authorizes that after July 1, 2020 all contracts should be written in at least 10 point font.

“From and after July 1, 2020, all contracts shall be written in a font of at least ten (10) point. Any portion of a contract that is written in a font of less than ten (10) point shall be unenforceable.”

The stipulations also include any instructions for completion on a buy/sell contract be listed in 10 point font, while the body of the contract in 12 point.

This bill was referred to the Judiciary A committee.
