Restaurant and hotel tax could go to advertising #billoftheday

By: Sarah Ulmer - February 7, 2019

This bill would create an advisory board and divert a percentage of the restaurant and hotel tax to advertising.

HB 1102, authored by Rep. DeLano would create a Mississippi tourism and advertising promotion advisory board that will assist MDA with any advertising initiatives directed toward tourism.

The bill reads:

There is hereby created a Mississippi Tourism Advertising and Promotion Advisory Board to assist the Mississippi Development Authority in the planning of initiatives for advertising and promoting tourism in Mississippi.

The bill has passed out of House committees and through the House floor. It is now on it’s way to the Senate.
