Philip Gunn at Neshoba: The direction of the Democratic party is fatal to America

By: Sarah Ulmer - August 3, 2018

The Speaker of the House spent the majority of his time warning those in attendance of the dangers of a future with the Democratic party. In his opinion of the Democratic party continues to grow, it will be devastating for the entire United States of America.

He said among most Democrats they believe everything should be free, free housing, free schooling, and the right to work regardless of qualifications. The problem he says, is none of them have a solution on how any of those free things will be paid for.

“There is no such thing as public money, there is only taxpayer money,” said Gunn.

Gunn said the Democratic party is headed toward socialism and it is a fatal party. It has been tried in other parts of the world and it has failed.

“Is that the direction you want to go, is it the direction you want America to go or Mississippi to go?” said Gunn.

There is a distinct and fundamental difference between the parties. He said that difference is limiting the influence and size of government not limiting the public. Republicans and Mississippi’s House of Representatives are for protecting freedom of religious, the unborn and your right to bear arms.

“As long as I am speaker of the house that will not change,” said Gunn.
