Michael Guest Announces Campaign for Congress at Kickoff Event in Brandon #MS03

By: Sarah Ulmer - January 18, 2018

On Thursday, January 18, Michael Guest, the District Attorney for Madison and Rankin Counties, held an announcement event in Brandon for his campaign for the U.S. Congress in Mississippi’s Third Congressional District.

Michael Guest is a lifelong conservative Republican who believes in limited government, traditional Mississippi values, free market economic principles of lower taxes and fewer regulations, protecting the right to life of the unborn, a strong national defense with full support of our men and women in the military, and keeping our 2nd Amendment gun rights and the other individual rights and liberties guaranteed to us by our Constitution.

At the event, Michael Guest stated, “For the last 22 years, I have fought to protect the people of Mississippi by dedicating my life to help keep our communities safe, and to see that they remain great places to live, worship and raise a family. As District Attorney for the people of Madison and Rankin Counties, I have worked with our men and women of law enforcement and our judicial officials to protect our citizens from those who would prey upon others. I have worked to rid our streets of those who sell drugs to our children, and to see that violent offenders are held responsible for their actions.” Michael Guest

Since 2008, as District Attorney, Michael Guest and his office prosecuted 20,000 criminals, supported law enforcement agencies by providing them with more than $20 million dollars in money recovered from drug dealers, and successfully recovering more than $3.5 million dollars in the bad check unit to help local merchants and businesses.

“I’m asking for everyone’s vote because we need a strong, conservative Congressman to represent Mississippi who has a proven record of fighting for what’s right,” said Michael Guest. “Just like I’ve fought for you by prosecuting criminals in the courtroom and putting them in jail, I’m asking you to send me to Congress to fight for you and our state.”

Prior to becoming District Attorney in 2008, Michael Guest served 12 years as an Assistant District Attorney prosecuting hundreds of cases and obtaining guilty verdicts against criminals charged with murder, manslaughter, armed robbery, sexual battery, aggravated assault, kidnapping, house burglary, and drug sales.

“I pledge to you that if you send me to Congress, I will work every day to represent our interests and to fight against those who would erode our freedoms. I will fight to see that we remain the nation that Ronald Reagan referred to as a shining city on a hill, and that we will forever be one nation under God.”

Michael Guest has worked closely with the law enforcement community training state and local law enforcement officers. He served as an instructor for the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department, Hinds County Sheriff’s Department, Mississippi Law Enforcement Training Academy, the Mississippi State Highway Patrol, and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.

District Attorney Guest serves as President of the Foundation for Rankin County Public Schools and serves on the Boards of the State and Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers. As a member of the Brandon Baptist Church, Guest serves as a Sunday school teacher and as a deacon. Michael Guest is a Rankin County resident and a graduate of Brandon High School. He received a degree in accounting from Mississippi State University and his law degree from The University of Mississippi. Guest is also a member of the Rankin County Bar Association and the Mississippi Bar Association. He is married to the former Haley Kennedy and they have two sons, Kennedy and Patton.
