2018 session begins with same issues as 2017
The issues confronting members of the Mississippi Legislature during the 2018 session, which starts at noon today, will be essentially the same as the ones they faced in the 2017 session.
They include:
Efforts to enhance spending on transportation to deal with what many say is a deteriorating transportation system.
Attempts to deal with sluggish revenue collections resulting in budget cuts.
Attempt to rewrite the state’s school funding formula.
