Mississippi’s Attorney General considering run for governor

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) — Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood put some rumors to rest about his bid for governor.

Hood confirmed his interest in running for governor. He talked about his future plans during a news conference Wednesday morning on Black Friday and Cyber Monday safety tips.

Hood says he is influenced by lack of growth in the state following the recession. He also talked about missed opportunities in education, road improvement, the internet sales tax, the mental health system and health care. He says there is one big factor preventing his making a formal announcement.

“Debbie had not made that decision, and it’s a lot more involved that being the attorney general’s wife. It’s social media, your family gets hammered in the mix. Those are considerations that a mother’s got to think through,” said Hood.
