Some MS Legislative Black Caucus members boycotting conference

“We made a decision that we would not march behind that flag and we asked that that flag not be used during this conference. We didn’t receive in enough time the information that we asked for that the flag would not be used and therefore we took a stand,” State Rep. Chris Bell said.

But not all black caucus members are boycotting the event, which is causing division in a group that is usually united.

State Rep. Credell Calhoun from Hinds County said he is going to the conference, but will not participate in the flag march.

“I’m not marching behind it. I won’t do that because I’m not for the flag, because I want the flag down,” Calhoun said.
