RELEASE:

MISSISSIPPI ROADBUILDERS SUPPORT LT. GOV. TATE REEVES

JACKSON – Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves earned the endorsement today of the Mississippi Road Builders Association for his commitment to strengthening the state’s infrastructure.

The MRBA is the leading voice promoting the building and maintenance of Mississippi’s roads and bridges. The association serves to promote the construction of better roads at lower costs, as well as to educate the public in the complex business of road improvements.

“Lt. Gov. Reeves has a good understanding of the challenges facing the state’s deteriorating infrastructure needs,” MRBA President David Greene of Lehman Roberts Co. “We are thankful the Lieutenant Governor had members of the Senate hold in-depth discussions to discover conditions and make recommendations on the status of the state’s roads and bridges. Lt. Gov. Reeves understands what it takes for many of our member companies to survive in tough economic times and be able to make difficult choices to allow our operations to survive.”

Under Lt. Gov. Reeves’ leadership Mississippi has increased its investment in maintaining roads throughout Mississippi. He supported committing $200 million to repair aging roads and bridges, in additional to the annual $900 million appropriation given to the Mississippi Department of Transportation.

“Mississippi companies rely on the state’s highway system to transport goods across the country, making roads and bridges essential to a thriving economy,” Lt. Gov. Reeves said. “I appreciate the support of the men and women who keep commerce moving in Mississippi.”
