Hernando aldermen on Tuesday night handily approved a tax increase – the first in at least 20 years – that will fund sorely needed road, infrastructure, safety and parks improvements and finance a $4.5 million bond issue for those purposes.
Aldermen approved the 10-percent hike in the ad valorem property tax rate by a vote of 5-1, with one abstention.
