Rep. Jeff Smith on Pascagoula museum funding: Rep. Read, Busby and Sen. Watson got it through

By: Magnolia Tribune - May 1, 2015

JEFFREY SMITH: Pascagoula museum funding was approved

The funding for the 2015 session for the Mississippi Maritime Museum in Pascagoula was the second round of such funding. Rep. John Read had requested money at the very end of the 2014 session.

During the early part of this year, Read came to me and asked for a second round of funding; Rep. Charles Busby came later and supplied many of the details. Though many of the worthy projects in Mississippi could not be done, these two members, because of seniority and relationship to House leadership, were able to ensure this was completed.

None of this could have been done without the assistance of the Mississippi Senate and Sen. Michael Watson.

As John F. Kennedy said, “Success has a thousand fathers, but failure is an orphan.” I wish to simply set the record straight.
