Madison County Republican Women see board resignations as a result of #MSSen primary

By: Magnolia Tribune - July 25, 2014

Republican women resign over nasty Senate race

Four of the five board members of the Madison County Republican Women have resigned, including Robin Mayfield, wife of GOP and tea party leader Mark Mayfield, who committed suicide in June amid the GOP primary photo scandal.

The resignations are apparently over the nasty U.S. Senate primary between incumbent Thad Cochran and state Sen. Chris McDaniel….

…But Nancy Bowering, who was in her second year as treasurer of MCRW, said she resigned from the board — although not as a member of the group — because she has been “disheartened” by the “very dirty” Cochran-McDaniel race.

“Just in a nutshell, the Mississippi Republican Women’s purpose is to support the Republican candidates and their re-election,” Bowering said. “Quite frankly, … I just felt like I couldn’t support the candidate — either one. … I just felt like I didn’t have it in my heart to go out and support either.”
