Bill to ban texting while driving dies as session ends

The fate of a bill to ban texting while driving was left in limbo late Wednesday night after a motion was made in the House to reconsider the bill.

A voice vote to try to table the motion failed, and the texting bill died for the year after House Speaker Philip Gunn adjourned the 2014 Legislative session without a final outcome on the bill, killing it for this session.

It appeared Tuesday, Mississippi would have a texting bill after the final version of the texting bill was approved by a large majority in the House and Senate.
