Fmr. Gov. Haley Barbour set to address the Capitol Prayer Luncheon Tuesday 3/25 at noon at Galloway

By: Magnolia Tribune - March 21, 2014

The Capitol Prayer and Ministry Foundation will hold a luncheon on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Galloway UMC. The guest speaker will be former Governor Haley Barbour. The lunch is free, but you should RSVP to kparker@senate.ms.gov.

Ben B. James, Jr., Chairman of the Capitol Prayer and Ministry Foundation, LLC stated, “Lt. Governor Tate Reeves, and I are so glad to have our good friend, Governor Haley Barbour, come share his Christian testimony Tuesday at our Capitol Prayer and Ministry Foundation, LLC. Our families have known and appreciated Governor Barbour since my wife, Laura Leigh’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Skelton’s friendship with Mr. and Mrs. Owen Cooper when the Skelton’s daughter, Laura Leigh’s Aunt, Mrs. Dwight Hasting (Ruth) roomed with the Cooper’s daughter from Yazoo City in college. They were so impressed by this young man who was a real star early on in Yazoo City. Also, Dr. Jessie Smith from our home in Jones County and President of Jones County Junior College (Laura Leigh’s alma mater) and his wife have been great friends of Laura Leigh’s since college days together at Jones. He will bless us with a Christian hymn. It is a joy to invite all to come and join us at Galloway UMC to pray and be blessed. Lt. Governor Tate Reeves asked me to also publicly thank Governor Barbour for taking the time to visit with the Capitol Prayer and Ministry Foundation and know that we are both looking forward to hearing Governor Barbour’s perspective on how faith informs his public service.”
