Nunnelee works to ensure abortion fees don’t get paid by Obamacare
A Republican congressman is attempting to ensure that abortion fees aren’t part of ObamaCare insurance exchanges.
Mississippi Congressman Alan Nunnelee explains that his Stop Abortion Funding in Multi-State Exchange Plans Act (SAFE Act) aims to amend Title I of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to ensure that the coverage offered under multi-state qualified health plans offered in exchanges is consistent with the federal abortion funding ban.
He tells American Family News it is his opinion that “taxpayers should not be forced to pay for something where they have moral objections, such as elective abortion.”
The Hyde Amendment prohibits spending tax dollars on abortion; but as Nunnelee points out, ObamaCare manages to get around the law.
